Jan Haas

Jan is a Senior Legal Consultant in our Abu Dhabi office, combining geopolitical awareness, legal precision, and strong regional networks to support clients in complex cross-border matters. With a background as a diplomat and extensive experience in international law and global affairs, he brings a strategic perspective to the commercial and regulatory challenges faced by businesses operating across jurisdictions.

Jan advises clients on compliance with the European Union’s sanctions framework and the UAE’s anti–money laundering (AML) regime, helping organisations navigate evolving regulatory environments with confidence. In his former roles, he closely followed and reported on many of the legal reforms that recently shaped the region, having been based both in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi. Prior to his diplomatic career, he worked with several leading corporate law firms and later founded and managed an NGO focused on pro bono migration law, underscoring his commitment to the broader impact of legal practice.

jan holds a law degree with distinction from the University of Münster, Germany, and was an Erasmus scholar at Université de Bordeaux in France, where he specialised in International and Comparative Law and studied both Civil and Common Law systems.
